Will AI Search Engines Become The New Norm?

Search engines have been the backbone of the internet for almost as long as it has existed. Google has become synonymous with the idea of looking up information. So much so that people now say ‘Google it’ when they want to know something. A true testament to just how powerful and essential search engines have become to our digital society.

It seemed, for the longest time, that search engines as we currently know them were never going to be dethroned. And this was great for the average internet user. But for businesses and independent websites it did present a number of issues. With so many active websites on the internet, people were forced to compete for top spots on search engines by using search engine optimization.

But that could all be changing with the introduction of AI search engines. But what exactly are AI search engines? And are they set to become the new norm for the internet?

AI Search Engines

If you’ve used Google recently, which you likely have, you will have started to notice that when you search for something you are now given an AI overview before the results. These overviews give quick and helpful insights into your query. Sometimes outright answering the question you had.

AI is now being integrated into nearly every major industry on the planet. For better or for worse it is here to stay. And the benefits are already being felt by denizens of the internet. AI is being used to better tailor search results and provide more succinct answers to users’ questions. And a majority of people are finding this extremely useful.

Many people have been left wondering what impact AI search engines will have on SEO. Over the years SEO has become one of the biggest digital marketing industries. And a lot of people working in the field are worried about the security of their profession in an ever changing landscape.

SEO And AI

One of the big issues that many users had was sifting through the junk that clogs up search results on Google and other search engines. This has led to SEO becoming a critical part of any website’s success. People are often unwilling to look past the first page of a search engine to find good results. But this is often where the best pages are.

Nations like India have made a name for themselves in the field of SEO over the years. And we are already seeing SEO agencies in Coimbatore, Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru adapt to the new AI landscape. The reality is that AI search engines are only going to empower SEO agencies across the globe. The fact that some of the biggest names in SEO are embracing AI wholeheartedly is proof of this.

AI search engines are able to offer better results to users based on a number of different metrics. Including that users past searching habits, data points, and the type of language they use while searching. When you pair this with SEO practices, which are aimed at increasing a website’s authority on a subject, we will see businesses that utilize SEO achieving more hits than ever before.

AI search engines will also be able to give demographic specific results to users without any additional input. Making it far easier for companies to reach their target audience. Providing they have optimized their site as best they can.

Will AI Become The Norm

This is the big question on everyone’s lips. Will AI search engines supplant the traditional search engine model? The question is a complex one. In the grand scheme of things it seems very likely that they will. As with any emergent technology, such as smartphones, no matter how much people resist it does eventually become the norm.

And with more companies designing their technology to be AI compatible it likely won’t be long before we move into this new AI driven era. There will be a vocal minority of people who will stick to the classic search engine model for a time. But it is unlikely that these platforms will be able to compete with companies like Google for too long.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about AI. Mostly propagated by sci-fi movies and books. AI is not at all as dangerous as its detractors would claim. It is simply a tool for better handling data. An AI search engine will only help to make the internet a more streamlined and focused place. Allowing users to cut past the huge amount of garbage and find the sites they really want.
